Nicole Lawson (Sandy Ridge, NC) is a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and activist. As a performer, Nicole has performed with Renay Aumiller Dances (RAD), Carol Finley Dance Group, Kate Davis and the Continuum Collective, and is currently collaborating with Raina Lucas Dance Company and Lab for the Tobacco Road Dance Productions 2018 Season. As a choreographer, her work investigates the pathways between injustice and hope. Her works have been presented by Meredith College in Raleigh, NC, The Emergence Festival in Durham, NC and she has presented work independently in both Durham and Stokes County, NC. Her latest work, “Elephant: A Co-production of the Artist and Her Therapist,” is an exploration of the experience of mental illness and suicidality and the pathway to recovery. Nicole is a graduate of Meredith College where she received Bachelor of Arts with majors in Dance Studies and Spanish with a Certificate in Professional Performance. This is Nicole’s first season with JOYEMOVEMENT.
